Ensnared ★★★☆☆

3 stars

Oh my gosh this book was so cute, especially the ending. I wasn’t really that into the book in the beginning but once certain things started happening I just couldn’t stop reading. This was a very cute and fast read and that’s the only reason I’m giving it 3 stars. There was nothing wrong with it, it just wasn’t mind-blowing or anything. It was a cute contemporary read, plain and simple. This book comes out December 18th and I’m excited to see it in the bookstore.

The Inexplicable Logic of My Life ★★★★☆

4 stars

I’m not entirely sure where to start this review. Maybe I should start by saying that I loved reading Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, which the man who wrote this book also wrote. Benjamin Alire Sáenz has a whimsical way of writing and I love reading any of his books. This book wasn’t really an exception but it didn’t leave me wanting to read more. I understand that this book follows a family and it is basically a record of their lives but it just wasn’t as gripping as Aristotle and Dante. I never thought about putting the book aside and throwing it into my DNF pile, so at least there’s that.

The Sun Is Also a Star ★★★★★

5 stars

Almost any book that makes me cry gets 5 stars and this book was no exception. Normally I hate to give books a full 5 stars because there is almost always something that can be improved, but this book was just plain amazing. I read it for three hours straight until 1 am and I am just so happy that I didn’t finish the book during school. This book was so highly recommended by just about everyone that I had to give it a chance and I am so so happy that I finally picked up my own copy because wow this book. Now I am happily joining the masses when I say, “read this book, you’ll regret it if you don’t.”

Heartless ★★★★☆

4 stars

Honestly, I loved this book and its spin on the Alice and Wonderland universe. It was such a great read and it was definitely worth staying up till 3 am to finish. I would highly recommend this to anyone who loves Alice in Wonderland or is even just a good book about a villain’s backstory.

Love & Gelato ★★★☆☆

3.5 stars

I only ended up getting this book from the library because I couldn’t get into the book I was currently reading. This book was an unexpected read for this month and I don’t really regret it. I’m always a sucker for a good romance book and this one was no exception, I loved it. It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting and honestly that was a nice surprise.

The Serpent King ★★★★★

(This is probably my longest review I’ve posted so far. I don’t know why but I feel like if I keep writing then maybe I will be able to do this book justice because I want everyone to read it. So um if you don’t like long reviews I’m sorry for this extra long one.) -added after I finished writing.

Okay wow. This book was just wow. I can’t even deal with how great this book was. I was literally sobbing for like five straight chapters because just wow. I keep saying wow because that’s the first word that comes to mind when I think of this book. Just wow.

At first, I didn’t have much time to read this book, and I always hate when my weeks are like that. But then I just finished it. The last half of this amazing book was read in bed, with tear streaked cheeks.
