Me & Milo The Great ★★★★★

4.5 stars

Okay wow, this book was so good I can’t. You know when you read part of a book and then when you put it down you keep thinking about it anyway? This is one of those books because wow the characters are just amazing and the story is so engrossing.

*I was sent this book by the author, Michelle Schlicher, in exchange for an honest review and this in no way affected my review in any way*

This book comes out on September 14th, 2017

Goodreads Summary:

My name is Holiday Sanchez. I carry a heavy burden.

But I’m not the only one.

There are others who know what it feels like to remember. Maybe they are the answer. Maybe we can help each other. Maybe I’ll finally get past it.

Maybe it just takes time—and a little bit of magic.

My Review:

At first, I thought this book was weird because it’s written kind of like a memoir but it’s really something amazing. This book has long chapters and I really did like that even though I prefer to stop reading at the end of a chapter. Long chapters just mean that I end up reading for longer and that’s something I really like doing when the book is amazing.

Holiday is a character that I couldn’t really connect with because I’ve never experienced a trauma like that but I related to her anxiety and love for her cat. This is the second book that I’ve read about a trauma like this and both of them were hard hitting stories that took over my mind for the week after I read it. This is the kind of book with the power to put you into a book slump because of how quickly it takes over your thoughts. I say this with admiration, of course, only the best books have the ability to do such a thing.

I really liked the fact that Milo was a bad magician but he still never gave up because it was something that he loved to do. When Milo was introduced I was a little skeptical but he really did grow on me within the first few chapters that he was in. He ended up becoming an amazing character that I loved reading about. I also loved who he became to Holiday.

I will say that the twist in the story was something thought about but I still loved the reveal and how Holiday dealt with it. I also love the fact that there was an epilogue to show how they lived after everything was revealed. It’s definitely one of my favorite things that an author can do and I’m so happy that this book had one.

I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys contemporary novels and likes to read about how a character recovers from a past trauma. This book is something I will recommend to more than a few people because of how much it resonated with me and I can definitely see plenty of people enjoying it.

6 Random Book Recommendations

So I’ve done a decent amount of book tags recently so I thought that I’d change it up by recommending some of my favorite books! I’m going to recommend both contemporary books and series’s because why pick one! I do have reviews for almost all of these books up on my blog so I do link to them in case anyone is interested in reading more about a particular book. I also don’t mention anything by Cassandra Clare or Sarah J. Maas because I talk about them a lot and figured I should mention some other books.

Vassa in the Night ★★★☆☆

2.5 stars

To be honest I went into this book without knowing anything about anything and maybe that’s why I didn’t enjoy it that much. I mean it was interesting but I just don’t think I will be recommending this book to any of my friends anytime soon. This book just didn’t sit well with me and I can definitely see myself forgetting the plot or specifics of this book in the near future.

Lola ★★★★☆

4.5 stars

It took me a while to start this book but once I did I couldn’t stop reading it! It only took me two days to finish but to be honest, I could have read it in one sitting. I loved the idea of this book and I was really happy about how the author dealt with the main character being the leader of a gang. I am also going to include trigger warnings at the end of this review because there were some things in the book that I was not prepared for.

*I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review. Receiving this book in exchange for an honest review did not affect my opinions in any way. All opinions are my own and were not influenced in any way.*

Norse Mythology ★★★★☆

4 stars

I bought this book with the intention of reading it slowly and in between other books but once I started it I decided that I needed to read it all. The book itself isn’t long so I read it in three days because I read it only at night but I’m sure this is the type of book that you can read in one day.

I’d also like to say sorry for not posting on Thursday like I normally do. I have my ap environmental exam on May 1st so I’ve spend a large majority of my time studying for that. I will have a review up on Tuesday but from then on I think most of my posts will be book tags and they probably will be shorter. My last exam will be on May 10th and so after that, I will definitely have time to write some more reviews! This, of course, is all what I think is going to happen and maybe I’ll write a review before my final exam but I thought I would at least tell everyone.

Spring Reading Guide & TBR

So I love reading books that go in conjunction with the current season so of course, I’m going to start some contemporary books! Some of these other books are just ones that I want to read but ya know, it’s spring so why not post a spring TBR.

Beauty of the Beast ★★★★★

“Nutrisco et extinguo. I nourish the good and extinguish the evil.”

This book was adorable. Unconsciously I’ve been reading a lot of Beauty and the Beast retellings and that’s probably because the movie comes out soon (or already has come out). I will say that I hated the beginning and there will definitely be some trigger warnings at the end of this review because I feel like some of the stuff in this book will affect certain people.
