New Years Resolutions Tag

Charr Frears is the original creator of this tag and I thought it was just something fun to do as we get closer to the end of 2017! I hope this year has treated you guys well and I hope the next year treats you even better.

1. An author you’d like to read (that you’ve never read before).

Stephanie Garber is an author that I own one book from and it really looks like something that I’d enjoy reading.

2. A book you’d like to read.

Zenith by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsy Cummings

3. A classic you’d like to read.

The Scarlett Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne

4. A book you’d like to re-read.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas duh I’ll always want to re-read this lovely book

5. A book you’ve had for ages and want to read.

The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen

6. A big book you’d like to read.

The Song Rising by Samantha Shannon

7. An author you’ve previously read and want to read more of.

Brittany Cavallaro! I love the books that I’ve already read by her and can’t wait to read more.

8. A book you got for Christmas and would like to read.

The illustrated copy of The Prisoner of Azkaban!

9. A series you want to read from start to finish.

Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

10. A series you want to finish that you’ve already started.

The Witchlands series by Susan Dennard

11. Do you set reading goals? If so, how many books do you want to read in 2018?

I do and I think I’m just going to keep it at about 60 for next year because of exams and everything that got in the way this year.

The Festive Christmas Book Tag

I really wanted to do at least one Christmas book tag and I figured why not do this one. It was really fun to do and I tag anyone who wants to do it, to do it and tag me! I’m not 100% sure who created this tag but all credit goes to them!

1) A fictional family you would like to spend Christmas dinner with?

I feel like everyone says this but I really want to spend Christmas dinner with the Weasly’s because they have such an amazing dynamic. And the magic is a plus.

2) A bookish item you would like to receive as a gift?

I’d really love to get some cool bookends because as of right now, some of my books just end up falling over.

3) A fictional character you think would make a perfect Christmas elf?

Honestly, any of the house elves from Hogwarts would be amazing little Christmas elves. That might be a little bit of a cop-out because they really are elves and stuff but I think Doby would be the greatest Elf.

4) Match a book to its perfect Christmas song.

I really couldn’t think of anything for this one.

5) Bah Humbug. A book or fictional character you’ve been disappointed in and should be put on the naughty list?

There was a certain character in Hunting Prince Dracula that I was really disappointed in because they ended up being the murderer…which is why I’m not saying exactly who it is lol.

6) A book or a fictional character you think deserves more love and appreciation and deserve to be put on the nice list?

There are so many books and people that I think should be on the nice list but I really think Nina and Inej from Six of Crows belong on the nice list.

7) Red, Gold, and Green. A book cover that has a wonderfully Christmasy feel to it.

I think the Unravel Me cover is one of the most Christmasy covers I can think of at the moment.

8) A book or series you love so much, you want everyone to find under their Christmas tree this year so they can read it and love it too?

Definitely the A Court of Thorns and Roses trilogy by Sarah J. Maas. This book series is always one that I tell people that would be a good gift for someone who enjoys reading YA books.

Doctor Who Book Tag

So I’m a nerd about much more than books and it just so happens that I love Doctor Who. When I saw this tag I just had to do it and I’m so excited for you guys to read my answers! If any of you do this tag, please tag me so I can see what your answers were. This specific tag was made by Becomingbookish and all credit belongs to them!

1. The Classics

{A classic book that still fits into YA literature}

Hmmm, I think The Outsiders by S. E. Hinton could definitely be called a young adult book! It reads like a young adult book and it is definitely

2. The Ninth Doctor

{A book you feel is very underrated}

I really think that the Tigers Curse series by Colleen Houck and The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern are two books that I don’t hear people talking about even though they’re both great books. That being said, I did read Tigers Curse a long time ago so that’s probably why no ones talking about it lol.

3. David Tennant

{A book or series that was hard to say goodbye to when it ended}

The ACOTAR series was so hard to say goodbye to and I guess it’s not technically over because we’re getting a novella soon but the trilogy is over and it’s the saddest thing. I’m not going to blab about the series more because I did that a few posts ago lol.

4. Matt Smith

{A book that made you smile}

giphy (1)

There are so many books that have made me smile but I guess the most recent one was Hunting Prince Dracula by Kerri Maniscalco because the relationship in it is one of my favorites.

5. Rose and Ten

{One of your ships that never sailed}

giphy (2)

Hmmm, I can’t really think of one for this! I’m sure there are ships that I’ve liked but that haven’t sailed but I can’t think of any 😦

6. Weeping Angel

{A book that you blinked and it was over}

The Valiant by Lesley Livingston because I read this book so fricken fast! I loved the book so hopefully, this isn’t taken as me not liking the book lol. Also! A Court of Mist and Fury! I blinked and I was done with the book. It was so amazing and I loved it so much!

7. Daleks

{A book you want to exterminate}

giphy (3).gif

Turtles All the Way Down by John Green, Mask of Shadows by Linsey Miller and Winterspell by Claire Legrand are all books that I wouldn’t mind seeing destroyed. This is, of course, my personal opinion and I hope none of you get offended by these answers.

8. Bowties Are Cool!

{A bandwagon you jumped on early}

The whole Shadowhunters trend that is based on the Mortal Instruments series. It’s one of my favorite series’s and I love the world that Cassandra Clare has made. I’m really happy I got to jump on this bandwagon before it got crazy lol.

9. Run you clever boy, and remember…

{A book with an awesome plot twist that you didn’t see coming}

giphy (4)

Can I first just say that I love Clara to death! She is one of my favorite companions and I also love Jenna Coleman. I almost always say Red Queen for questions that involve a plot twist that I didn’t see coming and I’m going to do it one more time. But I’m going to include a second book as well! The Valiant by Lesley Livingston had a really cool twist that I honestly wasn’t expecting!

10. Raxacoricofallapatorius

{A book with hard to pronounce names or titles}

giphy (5)

I honestly couldn’t think of anything for this one so I made sure the gif was extra good lmao.

11. The T.A.R.D.I.S

{A book that took you back in time}

Outlander by Diana Gabaldon transports me back in time to old Scotland and it is amazing. The entire series put me in the mindset of old Scotish history and every time after I finish one of the books, I wish I didn’t have to deal with real world drama.

My Name in TBR Books!

I have so many books on my TBR that this tag was something I’ve always thought about doing. It’s getting to the time where I’m getting busy again with school and this was one of the tags that I’ve had in my drafts for a while so this was a no-brainer. I hope you guys like the tag and if any of you decide to do it, feel free to tag me so I can check it out!

C – Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black

A – Alice by Cristina Henry

R – Rebel Magisters by Shanna Swedson

O – One Dark Throne by Kendare Blake

L – Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira

Y – I couldn’t think a book that started with a Y 😦

N – Nameless by Jennifer Jenkins

E – Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire

Halloween Book Tag!

Halloween is my favorite holiday and so I definitely had to do at least one Halloween book tag! This was really fun to do and I tag anyone that wants to do it and loves Halloween!! This is also a lot of me confessing my previous Halloween costumes where I’ve dressed up as a character from a book. I hope everyone has a great Halloween and that everyone’s night goes well!

1.) Favorite Scary (Must Read) For Halloween?

Cuckoo Song by Francis Hardinge is definitely one of the “scariest” books that I’ve read in a while and I could totally see myself picking it up again for Halloween.

2.) Scariest Book Cover, Like Ever?

I don’t really find book covers scary but this is definitely one of the creepier ones that are out there!

3.) If You Could Go Trick-or-Treating With Any Author, Who Would You Pick?

Probably Sarah J. Maas because she just seems like a lot of fun to hang out with and she could probably talk her way into getting a full-sized chocolate bar.

4.) If You Could Dress Up As Any Bookish Character For Halloween, Who Would You Be?

I think I would be Daenerys Targaryen for Halloween. I’ve already been Mannon Blackbeak and a Shadowhunter so I’m prepared to go full nerd for Halloween!

5.) If You Could Find Anything (From Any Book) In Your Trick-or-Treat Stash, What Would You Hope To Find?

I could definitely use a dragon egg or a magical wand. Either way, I’m going to be a powerful woman after sorting my Halloween stash and I’m not sharing!

6.) In What Fictional World Would You Like To Go Trick-or-Treating?

giphy (1).gif

I think it would be really cool to go Trick-or-Treating in the Wizarding world because you would get all of the cool candies and trinkets!

7.) What Book Villain Would You Not Like To Meet Alone In A Dark Alley On Halloween?

Natasha from The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon is one of the cruelest characters and I definitely wouldn’t want to be alone with her in a dark alley.

8.) Would You Rather Dress Up As A Vampire, Zombie, Werewolf, or Shadowhunter?

Its no surprise but I’d definitely be a shadowhunter. To be completely honest, I’ve already gone as a Shadowhunter for Halloween a while back and it was definitely not the worst thing I’ve dressed up as.

9.) Pick A Candy (Just One) From Harry Potter That You Would Love To Find In Your Stash?

Omg, only one?! This is so hard but I’d probably want a chocolate frog so I can get a collectible wizard card!

10.) What Is Your Favorite Halloween Candy?

Kit Kats or Twix! I love chocolate and these are just the right amount of sweet for me!

Finally Fall Book Tag

The weather where I am is so unconventional but it’s slowly becoming more fall-like. I’m going to have a few more book tags going up this month because I love Halloween and the fall season. So, I’m sorry if you’re not interested in tags but I’ll be back to predominantly book reviews next month!

1. In fall, the air is crisp and clear: name a book with a vivid setting!

Six of Crows has such a vivid setting and I really loved the description of all the different places in the book.

2. Nature is beautiful… but also dying: name a book that is beautifully written, but also deals with a heavy topic like loss or grief.

All the Bright Places by Jennifer Niven is such a beautifully written book and I loved how it dealt with such heavy topics.

3.Fall is back to school season: share a non-fiction book that taught you something new.

Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee by Dee Brown is a really influential book that while I’ve only read portions of the book, it’s one that’s stayed with me for a while.

4. In order to keep warm, it’s good to spend some time with the people we love: name a fictional family/household/friend-group that you’d like to be a part of.

The Inner Circle from A Court of Mist and Fury omg can I please just join your group?Thanks! They’re just such an amazing group of people (or fae) and I’d love to be a part of that group.

5. The colourful leaves are piling up on the ground: show us a pile of fall-coloured spines!

6. Fall is the perfect time for some storytelling by the fireside: share a book wherein somebody is telling a story.

The Star Touch Queen by Roshani Chokshi is the only book I can really think of where the main character is telling a story. I know there’s another book where someone is telling a story but I really can’t remember anything right now.

7. The nights are getting darker: share a dark, creepy read.

Cuckoo Song by Frances Hardinge is definitely one of the creepiest reads that I’ve read recently.

8. The days are getting colder: name a short, heart-warming read that could warm up somebody’s cold and rainy day.

Me and Milo the Great by Michelle Schlicher is a book that I can see anyone falling in love with, or at least being warmed by.

9. Fall returns every year: name an old favourite that you’d like to return to soon.

City of Bones and The Infernal Devices are books that I really want to read again because I loved them so much.

10. Fall is the perfect time for cozy reading nights: share your favourite cozy reading “accessories”!

I love reading with cute bookmarks, fall leaves, and a chunky maroon scarf! I got the scarf while I was in Inverness and I love it so much!
