Author Interview with Lisa Maxwell

So one of my favorite authors is Lisa Maxwell and I first heard about her through a friend and then I got Unhooked in one of my Owlcrate subscriptions, from there I was hooked. Lisa currently has three books out, (Unhooked, Sweet Unrest and Gathering Deep) and she has another book coming out in July of this year. I am incredibly excited for her next novel, The LastMagician, because I love her writing style and the summary just sounds amazing.

Beauty of the Beast ★★★★★

“Nutrisco et extinguo. I nourish the good and extinguish the evil.”

This book was adorable. Unconsciously I’ve been reading a lot of Beauty and the Beast retellings and that’s probably because the movie comes out soon (or already has come out). I will say that I hated the beginning and there will definitely be some trigger warnings at the end of this review because I feel like some of the stuff in this book will affect certain people.

The Stationary Book Tag

I’m almost never tagged in tags but I really enjoy doing them, so I like to take it upon myself to find them. This month has been incredibly busy for me but at least I had a book signing to go to. I dislike having to take the SAT but at least it’s over for a long while now. This tag was created by the wonderful Sam from @RiverMooseReads

The Roanoke Girls ★★★☆☆

3 stars

Well hell, this book was weird. Not only does it switch time eras but it also gives backstory or further information about a character that was talked about in the previous chapters. In the beginning, I didn’t really like this very much but as I kept reading, I ended up really liking the writing style. Just the story was weird. I get that with a book called The Roanoke Girls, I should have expected something a bit odd but this definitely exceeded my expectations.

Ensnared ★★★☆☆

3 stars

Oh my gosh this book was so cute, especially the ending. I wasn’t really that into the book in the beginning but once certain things started happening I just couldn’t stop reading. This was a very cute and fast read and that’s the only reason I’m giving it 3 stars. There was nothing wrong with it, it just wasn’t mind-blowing or anything. It was a cute contemporary read, plain and simple. This book comes out December 18th and I’m excited to see it in the bookstore.

Three Dark Crowns ★★★☆☆

3.5 stars

I got this book in an Owlcrate subscription box and I loved reading it so much. I read it around Halloween of 2016 (yeah I’m posting this late oops) and it definitely fit the atmosphere. It wasn’t a long read by any means and I can’t wait for the next book to come out.
