I’ve placed myself under a book buying ban for the next 3 months. I can’t buy new books until July 1st. I’m totally regretting this decision but I need to read the books I have on my shelf right now. Besides if I really really want to read a book during these 3 months I can just go get it from the library.
There are so many new books coming out that I just really want to buy. The glittering Court, The Paladin, A Torch Against the Night, The Star Touched Queen, to name a few. I did pre-order a book before I started this ban though so at least I will get A Court of Mist and Fury when it comes out. I’ve also bought myself all 10 books in the Tales From the Shadowhunter Academy series. They are really short, but at least I have something on my phone to read in between all my physical books.
But it also sucks because 3/4 of the books in my April tbr pile are first books in a series and I don’t own any of the next books. I’ll probably just end up checking them out of the library, reading them and then maybe buying them so I can have the entire series available for me to re read.
I’m totally going to keep entering giveaways though (on Insta and goodreads) because I’m not technically buying new books then. I’ve also told my dad that he’s not allowed to buy me any new books for at least 2 months because if he buys them it kind of feeling like cheating the ban. Not that he complained about the idea, to him book buying bans just save him money.
I don’t know if I’ll be able to go an entire 3 months without buying a book but I’m going to try. If anything my goal is to only buy one, and even then it better be a heck of a deal and it better only be one book.
Have any of you ever gone on a book buying ban? If so, how long was it? Were you able to go the entire time without buying yourself a new book?
